A Congress supporter, who was marching for the party’s ‘Bharat Jodi Yatra’ in Karnataka on Saturday, was beaten up by police and his T-shirt was forcibly removed as it said ‘PECM’ – targeting Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai over allegations of corruption Creating Campaign. Last week senior Congress leaders including former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, state unit chief DK Shivakumar, Randeep Singh Surjewala and several MLAs were arrested for pasting posters of ‘PECM’. He faced minor charges including defacement of public property.

Police said the Congress worker – identified as Sindagi’s Akshay Kumar – who was attacked on Friday was accused of spreading unverified claims against the government. He was wearing a T-shirt and a flag bearing the ‘PayCM’ campaign QR code. The incident is from Gundlupeth of Chamarajanagar.
