At Disney’s D23 Expo 2022, Marvel Studios unveiled the first trailer for Secret Invasion, an upcoming live-action series that will debut the fifth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe on the small screen. Covert Assault Trailer Brings Back Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), His captain marvel Enemy-turned-ally Talos (Ben Mendelsohn), former Shield aide Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders), CIA agent Everett K. After an explosion in a different shot – also somewhere in Eastern Europe – the Covert Assault trailer introduces the character Olivia Colman who tells Fury: “You’re not in shape for this fight that’s in front of us.” As Rhodes and Hill walk through the corridors or dimly-lit streets respectively, Emilia Clarke says: “This is just the beginning.”
It’s unclear who she’s talking to, but it’s Fury who responds via voiceover: “It’s my war, alone. And I’m the last person standing between them and what they really want.” The Covert Assault trailer ends with a Skrull (not hidden) shouting, a helicopter firing at a convoy, and Talos asking the question on everyone’s mind: “And what is that?” Unfortunately, there’s no answer, as the Covert Assault trailer cuts the title card.
On stage at D23 Expo 2022, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige also revealed that Secret Invasion will be headed directly by a six-episode Cheadle. armor warWhich is yet to start production.
