Watch: Veterinarian eats food with rescue dog in cage for comfort, wins hearts

Food, which is essential to our survival, has the power to bring people together, and giving food to the needy is considered a good deed. Preparing your partner’s favorite dish is also one of the sweetest things you can do, as a wholesome meal evokes feelings of love and care. Recently such a video has come to the fore which seems to be reinforcing this belief. It shows a vet sitting in a cage with the dog having his meal to comfort the animal. In the video shared on Twitter, the man is seen sitting in a corner with a dog inside the cage. The man then brings out a bowl with food and serves it to the dog before keeping one for himself. The vet starts feeding but sees that the dog is refusing to eat. So the person picks up some food from the bowl and feeds the dog with his hands. The animal soon starts nibbling and after a few seconds starts eating directly from the bowl.

It turned out that the dog, named Gracie, had been abused before she was rescued. The video was first posted in 2016 by Granite Hills Animal Care On Facebook. The veterinarian seen in the video is Dr. Andy Mathis from Georgia, USA. He explained in other posts that when Gracie was rescued, she was “emaciated, hungry (20 pounds), dehydrated, hypothermic and anemic”. The doctor initially thought of putting the dog to sleep but decided to take care of it. Gracie spent most of her time in one corner of her cage. So, to comfort her and make sure she eats well, Dr. Andy Mathis decides to go inside the cage and sit next to Gracie to have breakfast.
