Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya achieved a rare feat in T20Is as he reached a record 500 runs and 50 wickets in the 20-over format during the third match in the ongoing series against West Indies.

Pandya broke the 50-run opening stand between the West Indies opener and Kyle Meyers to reach the 50-wicket haul in T20Is by dismissing Brandon King during the match. He became the sixth Indian male player to achieve this feat. Ravindra Jadeja was the last Indian star to achieve the milestone in the last game against West Indies.

By dismissing King, the India all-rounder achieved the rare feat of scoring 50 wickets and 500 runs in the 20-over format. He currently has 802 runs in T20 cricket.

With the rare double feat, Pandya became the 11th male player to reach the milestone and the 30th overall.

The only other Indian player to achieve this feat was women’s cricket team star Deepti Sharma, who has 65 wickets and 521 runs in the 20-over format.

Among the men’s players to achieve the double, the India all-rounder is the latest player to make his T20I debut, having first played for India in 2016.

Pandya has been in good form with the ball in white-ball cricket and has already taken four wickets in ODIs and T20Is twice this year.

The India all-rounder bowled a tough spell against West Indies on Tuesday as he conceded just 19 runs in his four overs taking a wicket.

Meyers’ 73 and useful cameos from Rovman Powell and Shimron Hetmyer took the hosts to a strong total of 164 for the loss of five wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

During the match Bhuvneshwar Kumar took two and Arshdeep Singh also took one wicket.
