WhatsApp begins testing group icon editor on desktop – Times of India

WhatsApp is testing a number of new features on its platform, including new emoji reactions to group size and privacy improvements like hiding last seen and profile pictures from certain contacts. It looks like the Meta-owned instant messaging platform isn’t quite done yet as the company now plans to introduce a group icon editor for its desktop client.
WABetaInfo has reported that the instant messaging platform is testing the ability to create custom group icons for the desktop. Also note that this feature is already available for beta users whatsapp android And iOS Apps from last year.
Now, as per the reports, the company is planning to bring this feature to the desktop as well.
As per the screenshot shared by WABetaInfo, users can now choose a different photo as the group icon and the drop down menu also includes the option – Emoji & Stickers. Which means, users can also choose to use emoji and stickers as group icons.
Since this feature is already available Android And iOS, the desktop version is also expected to offer similar functionality. Plus, the Group Icon Editor tool will allow users to create a group icon by choosing a background color, emoji or sticker, and set it as a group icon.
As far as the official rollout of the feature is concerned, it is currently uncertain when WhatsApp will roll out the group icon editor to all platforms in the final build.
