‘Why am I not allowed?’ Stopped from leaving, CM Bhupesh Baghel sitting on dharna at Lucknow airport

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, who arrived at the Lucknow airport on Tuesday, to show solidarity with the four farmers killed in Sunday’s violence Lakhimpur Kheri was not allowed to leave the premises and sat on the floor in protest, questioning the reason for not giving permission.

In a video tweeted by Baghel, he can be seen asking the police officials why he was being stopped from leaving the airport even though he had no intention of going to Lakhimpur Kheri, which was held during a protest. After the death of eight people, it has become the center of political struggle. farmers against the agriculture laws of the center

Baghel on Monday slammed the BJP-led Uttar Pradesh government for not giving permission to land at the Lucknow airport and asked whether civil rights have been abolished in the northern state.

The Uttar Pradesh government had requested the Lucknow airport authority not to allow the arrival of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Baghel and Punjab Deputy CM Sukhjinder S Randhawa, who had announced plans to visit Lakhimpur Kheri. Baghel, who was made a senior observer by the Congress for next year’s UP assembly elections, claimed that the Lakhimpur incident reflects the mindset of the BJP that those who raise their voice against him will be crushed.

“On Sunday night, Priyanka Gandhi ji, who was going to Lakhimpur, was detained in Sitapur. I was also scheduled to go there (Monday morning) and my plane is ready, but the UP government has refused permission to land (at Lucknow airport).”

“When section 144 (of CrPC) is in force in Lakhimpur, why is not being allowed to land in Lucknow,” he said. “Have civil rights been abolished in Uttar Pradesh? Is a separate visa necessary to go to UP? Why are people being stopped? This is very unfortunate as it is a question of civil rights. Can’t people go to express their condolences and take stock of the incident? If they (BJP government) are stalling, what is their mindset?” he further asked.

He claimed that the way farmers were crushed (in Lakhimpur Kheri on Sunday), it shows their (UP BJP government) mentality that those who raise their voice against them will be crushed and trampled. “This mentality is very dangerous and the whole country is agitated and everyone wants to go to Lakhimpur,” he said, adding that the incident “has exposed the real face of the BJP”.

When reporters pointed out that UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has assured strict action on the incident, Baghel said, “He always used to say this after every incident. He was elected to power on the issue of law and order and now the whole country is watching how law and order was violated there. Nothing is left under Yogi Adityanath’s control, and his own people are doing it.”
