Wimbledon favorite Inga Swietake says there’s still grass to be found

Poland’s world number one Inga Swietec is a strong contender for the Wimbledon title, but admits grasscourt tennis is something she is still trying to figure out.

This entry will offer hope to his rivals but the bad news is that the 21-year-old has done a great job of figuring everything out in his illustrious early career so far.

She won the Wimbledon junior title only four years ago and has since transformed herself into a dominant force on the WTA Tour, holding two French Open titles and is currently on a 35-match winning streak. with six titles.

They were on hard courts and clay and switching to the All England Club lawns would be a tough challenge.

“Honestly I still feel like I need to figure out the grass. Last year, of course, it was the kind of tournament where I didn’t know what to do,” Swatek told reporters on Saturday .

“Then match by match I realized that maybe I can do more. Yet this year I only played 10 days on the grass, so it’s not much. I didn’t have much time for preparation.

“But I’m just trying to be open-minded and take the positivity out of the situation and feel like I can play without any expectations.”

Swietec, who reached the fourth round last year, began their search against Croatian qualifier Jan Fate, who is in 254th place.

That clash will take place on Tuesday on Center Court – the traditional slot for the defending champions.

With Australian Ash Barty leaving the game, the honor has been bestowed on Sweetek and few can congratulate him.

“We didn’t actually request it. I know there’s been some discussion about who should open, and I feel really fortunate that I’ve been selected,” she said.

“There are many players here who have won Wimbledon… It’s a great thing for me. I wasn’t expecting it because still I only made it to the fourth round last year and that’s my best result.”

“Hopefully it’s going to be a good show.”

Swatek, who has not played a match since defeating American Coco Gauff in the final of the French Open, has decided to rest after his incredible victory.

“It was the best decision for me to be in a good shape,” she said. “Basically I stayed at home because after being on tour I feel it is the best way for me to recover.

“It was hard to chill and do nothing because I felt like my adrenaline was up. I felt that I still had some work to do and some goals, like cleaning the house.

“But I didn’t have to worry about eating well or sleeping well, so it was great.”
