Surat: An Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) councilor on Thursday filed a police complaint saying that a bag containing some important documents was stolen from his car when he went to watch a movie with friends. A few hours after the complaint, the police informed them that the bag was found near a BJP Councilor’s house.
According to the complaint of the AAP councilor Kanubhai Gedia (32), he had gone to see a movie in the Adajan area on Thursday around 4 p.m. after parking his car at the pay-and-park facility in front of the bridge. Star Bazaar, Gedia Simda lives with his family in Naka area and is a councilor from ward number 3.
When he returned to his car after watching the film, he noticed that the window glass of the left side door of the car was broken and a bag was missing in the back seat of the vehicle. However, there was a laptop near the bag on the seat.
Gediya filed a complaint with the Adajan police. He said in the complaint that the bag contained his ID card given by the SMC, personal letter pad, letters written to SMC Complaints and documents of officials, citizens regarding the alleged scam of STM textile market and alleged attendance scam of SMC.
The police have registered offenses against unidentified persons under various sections of the IPC, including 379 (theft) and 427 (causing harm). Hours after the complaint was filed, a bag matching Gediya’s description was found near the house of a BJP councilor in Adajan.
A police officer said, “The BJP councilor noticed the bag near his house and informed us. We are probing the crime but we are also checking the authenticity of the complaint as it involves political figures.”
“A few hours after registering the complaint, I got a call from the police about the recovery of my stolen bag. The police will hand it over to me after the legal process is completed,” Gedia said.
