5G Launch: Here’s how, where and when to watch live streams, know 5G tariff plans in India

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil India’s 5G services today. The services will be offered at the India Mobile Congress (IMC), which is now running in New Delhi. It will run till October 4. “Encapsulate, Engage and Experience a New Digital Universe” is the theme of this year’s IMC event. The primary goal of the event is to promote innovative technology, especially indigenous people.

High data speeds, low latency, and seamless coverage are all promised by 5G technology. According to reports, this will improve network, spectrum and energy efficiency.

How to watch live stream?

National public broadcaster Doordarshan, along with other well-known news stations, is set to telecast the event live. Those who are interested can follow there 5G live updates. The sixth edition of India Mobile Congress will also be launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Speech will start at 10 am.

Which cities are getting 5G service first?

Higher data rates and extended coverage will be provided by 5G technology, as already mentioned. Initially 13 cities in India will get 5G internet services. The list of cities includes Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Gandhinagar, Gurugram, Hyderabad, Jamnagar, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai and Pune.

Jio, Airtel and Vi, the three cellular providers, currently do not offer 5G tariff plans. But it is expected that the telco will soon introduce the 5G rate option, considering that 5G services will start this year. Reliance Jio had announced earlier this year that by Diwali this year, it would launch 5G services in at least four cities: Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. Airtel also has 5G service introduction plans for this year.

Vodafone Idea, the third largest telecom provider in India, has failed to announce its plans to launch 5G services, despite buying spectrum in 17 circles across the country. The government aims to make 5G telecom services available across India within two years, according to Union Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, who on Sunday said that 5G telecom services will be introduced in India very soon.

He continued by saying that India is preparing for the launch of 5G services in October 2018.
