Ranchi: If March was the hottest month in the last 122 years India Meteorological Department ,IMD), April 2022 has been no less brutal as all meteorological parameters Jharkhand prompt.
The departure of rainfall in the month of April has been the highest negative 91 per cent in the last five years, while the number of heat waves experienced in different parts of the state has also been maximum during the same period.
Against the normal rainfall of 19.6 mm in April, the state has received 1.5 mm of rain, which also remained confined to 12 districts, while the rest 12 were completely dry.
On a comparative scale, 2017 was also poor but still the departure was negative 69% indicating that the actual rainfall was 6.1 mm. In 2020, the situation was just the opposite when the state received 56.2 mm of rain in April, which corresponded to a positive 187% departure.
In terms of recorded maximum temperatures – the three weather stations in the state recorded the highest average increase. The average temperature in April this year was 39.4 degrees Celsius which was 3.8 degrees higher as against Ranchi’s monthly normal (maximum) of 35.6 degrees Celsius.
Similarly, Jamshedpur The average temperature was 2.8 degrees above average and Daltonganj recorded 4.3 degrees above average.
Weatherman believes that the increase in annual mean temperature is due to gradual warming.
