COVID-19: Delhi allows schools and colleges to reopen

Schools, colleges and coaching institutes in Delhi may reopen from Monday, the Delhi government decided in a meeting today, sources have said. He said the Delhi Disaster Management Authority or DDMA, after a meeting today, allowed reopening of gyms amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The duration of the night curfew has been reduced by one hour; Now it is from 11 pm to 5 am. Earlier, the night curfew had started from 10 pm.

Sources said schools can reopen in phases – classes 9 to 12 can run from February 7 – and teachers who have not been vaccinated cannot take classes.

Sources said that offices can function with 100 per cent attendance and people driving cars alone need not wear masks.

The national capital’s decision to ease restrictions and allow schools and colleges to reopen comes a day after the Center dropped the number of COVID-19 cases and positivity rate, or number of people infected by every 100 tests.

The daily COVID-19 cases in India fell by 50 per cent to 1,72,433 from 3,47,254 in the two weeks between January 21 and February 3.

During the same period, the positivity rate or the number of infections per 100 tests fell by 39 per cent from 17.94 per cent to 10.99 per cent, showing a clear decline in the daily positivity rate indicating a reduction in the spread of COVID-19 infections.
