Eminent Urdu poet Manzar Bhopali has invited his Uttar Pradesh counterpart Munawwar Rana to settle in Madhya Pradesh’s capital Bhopal, as the results of the assembly elections in UP this week gave a resounding victory to the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Rana, a vocal critic of the Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government in UP, had announced ahead of the assembly elections that the incumbent CM would not be able to return to power in his home state and vowed to quit if proved wrong. ,
Breaking myths and records, BJP registered a thumping victory, with Yogi all set to retain the CM’s chair.
Speaking to News18 on Saturday, Bhopali referred to the UP poet’s recent comments urging him not to search for his new abode and inviting him to settle down at his farmhouse in the city of lakes. Bhopali said, “You can express your views lovingly in the city and the local people will adopt them with an open heart.”
“I myself being a poet can feel their pain. I felt that Munavwar Bhai could move here and there, so I invited him to come to Bhopal and settle here. I have a beautiful bungalow in my farmhouse in Bhopal and if he does, it will be a matter of pride for the city,” Bhopali told News18.
He said that whatever crude statements Rana has given should be avoided.
“If he really comes to Bhopal, I would advise him to speak less and engage more in poetry, despite all his intelligence,” Bhopali said.
