Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwanti Value The state government on Wednesday announced the decision of the state government to constitute a Group of Ministers (GoM) for effective monitoring and control of lumpy skin disease among cattle in the state.
After the meeting, Mann said that Finance Minister Harpal Cheema, Panchayat Minister would be included in this group. Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwaland transport minister Laljit Singh Bhullari, He will be assisted by experts from Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University. The ministers will review the situation daily and take necessary action.
In Punjab, over 400 cattle have died and around 20,000 cows, mostly cows, have been infected in a month due to the lumpy skin disease.
The CM said that a comprehensive, free vaccination campaign would be launched. “There will be no dearth of funds. The best recommended medicine has been brought by the Center and more vaccinations, if required, will be airlifted,” he said.
Mann also announced that the state government has sealed the state borders to check the entry of animals into Punjab from other states. He said that Fazilka, Muktsar, Bathinda And tarn taran was most affected by the disease, which shows that the disease had spread from other states. “It is imperative to seal the state borders to prevent further spread of the disease,” he said. Until the disease is controlled, there will be a complete ban on animal fairs in the state. The Animal Husbandry Department has been asked to provide calcium supplements to the animals to increase their immunity. The department has also been directed to ensure sprays to kill mosquitoes which may be carriers of the disease.
Mann urged the cattle owners to ensure vaccination of their respective cattle, as it also boosts the immunity to fight the disease. He said that the Deputy Commissioners have been directed to ensure proper arrangement on vacant lands for proper burial of dead animals. He said that the recent trends also show that the disease is decreasing in the state.
Mann said that cattle owners are an integral part of the state’s economy and the Punjab government will take every step to ensure that the animals do not fall prey to the disease.
‘Ignore rumours’
CM Mann appealed to the cattle owners to exercise restraint and not to follow rumours. He said that the state government was committed to tackle the spread of the disease. He urged the livestock owners to maintain cleanliness around the animals and isolate the cattle with any signs of disease.
