Kolkata: A young woman was arrested on Saturday for allegedly drugging and duping a young professional after meeting a young professional on a dating app last month at a hotel in New Town.
Police said, Aalo Deb had met the professional lake town Last month, she was posing as a girl named Sangeeta. After chatting on the platform for a few days, the woman called the man for the first meeting at a hotel in New Town.
The man responded positively, and the date was set in a hotel room. At the hotel, the woman probably instructed a waiter to put out food and drinks. The man ate while chatting with her. ate hotel room and he soon passed out,” said an official of the Bidhannagar Commissionerate.
When the man got up, 28 hours had passed. The hotel staff had to enter the room to wake him up. Then he realized that the woman had stolen his cellphone, cash and credit card. On checking her banking transactions, it was found that the woman had already swiped her credit card to buy goods worth Rs 1.26 lakh.
He also found his laptop in the washroom basin with the tap water switched on, which had already gone bad. He came out of the hotel and immediately lodged a complaint with the Bidhannagar Cyber Crime Police.
Probing the complaint, the police started tracking the data from the dating app and after more than two weeks of investigation, they traced the woman from Sonarpur and arrested her. He was produced in a Salt Lake court which rejected his bail plea and sent him to judicial custody.
