Entering the Indian EV space is yet another homegrown startup called Oben Electric, based out of Bengaluru, as it revealed its upcoming Oben Roar electric bike, which is set to debut in the Indian market next month, While deliveries will start from Q2 ‘2222. The Oben Ror electric bike boasts of a top speed of 100 kmph and a range of 200 km from its class-leading battery pack. Additionally, the company said that the price segment for the new Oben Ror electric bike will be competitive and will be between ₹1 lakh to ₹1.50 lakh.

The new Oben Rör electric bike is said to be a high-speed electric motorcycle with a claimed sprint of 3 seconds from zero to 40 kmph. Additionally, the company also revealed that the new Oben Ror electric bike will have a fast charger charge time of 2 hours. However, the company did not reveal any other details about its charging capability. Even so, the Oben Rör electric bike will have a fixed battery pack, not a swappable system, which means it can impact the ease of charging at home, something offered by other electric two-wheeler manufacturers.

Apart from this, the company also revealed its plans to reveal 3-4 new products that will originate from the Oben Ror electric bike. These new electric motorcycles will cater to different segments and will be introduced in the next two years. However, without disclosing further details, the company said that it plans to set up its own charging stations across India, which is likely to be developed by strategic partnerships with established players. The company also plans to set up its own dealership and service network, but the details have not been disclosed yet.

Oben Electric is co-founded by Madhumita and Dinkar Agarwal and is backed by UP-based We Founders Circle. It has recently received fresh funding from Krishna Bhupal, board member GVK Power & Infra, Shajikumar Devkar, executive director, IIFL Wealth and other investors. So far, the company has raised a total of $2.5 million (₹18,67,88,380) through VC funding.
