Patra Chawl case: Sanjay Raut’s wife reaches ED office for questioning

Varsha Raut, wife of Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut, reached the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office in Mumbai on Saturday as she was summoned by the agency in the Patra Chawl land case.

Varsha Raut was summoned by the central agency on Friday after ED officials raided the Shiv Sena leader’s house on Sunday and detained and interrogated him in the early hours of Monday. He was sent to ED custody till August 4, though it was later extended 8 august,

Raut is a close aide of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.

Before his arrest, Sanjay Raut’s brother had said, “Sanjay Raut has been arrested. BJP is afraid of him and has arrested him. They have not given us any documents (regarding his arrest). has been framed.”

Meanwhile, another FIR was registered in Mumbai against Sanjay Raut for allegedly threatening Sujit Patkar’s wife Swapna Patkar, who is considered close to the Shiv Sena MP.

A case under sections 504, 506 and 509 of the Indian Penal Code was registered at Vakola police station. An audio clip had gone viral in which Raut was purportedly heard threatening Swapna Patkar.

Notably, Swapna Patkar Patra is also a witness in the Chawl land case, in connection with which the ED raided Raut’s residence and took him into custody.

According to sources, ED officials seized 11.50 lakh unaccounted cash from his residence during the raid. Soon after ED officials took him into custody in the Patra rice land scam case, the Shiv Sena leader said he “will not be cowardly”.

Talking to media persons, Raut said, “False allegations and documents are being prepared against people. All this is being done to weaken Shiv Sena and Maharashtra. Sanjay Raut will not be left out. I will not leave the party.” “

On June 28 this year, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had summoned Sanjay Raut in connection with the prevention of money laundering case. 1,034 crore Patra rice land scam.

Raut is being questioned in connection with the redevelopment of Patra Chawl in Mumbai.

In April this year, the ED had attached immovable properties of 11.15 crore, which includes a flat in Dadar owned by Sanjay Raut’s wife Varsha and eight land parcels in Kihim near Alibaug, jointly owned by Swapna Patkar.
