Railways: Train booking, cancellation to remain closed till November 21

New Delhi: The Railway Passenger Reservation System (PRS) will remain closed for six hours during the lean business hours of the night for the next seven days. The Railway Ministry announced this on Sunday.

This activity will be done from the midnight of 14 and 15 November till the night of 20 and 21 November.

During these 6 hours, no PRS services (ticket reservation, current booking, cancellation, inquiry services etc.) will be available.

During this period the railway personnel will ensure advance charting for starting the trains during the affected time. Except PRS services, all other inquiry services including 139 services will continue uninterrupted.

As per the press release of South Western Railway, this system is to enable up-gradation of data and updating of new train numbers etc.

Since a large amount of past (old train numbers) and current passenger booking data is to be updated in all Mail/Express trains, this is being planned in a series of carefully calibrated phases and implemented during night hours. in order to minimize the impact.
